by Brandon RichardOn Wednesday, adidas filed a trademark infringement lawsuit against apparel retailer Marc Jacobs, accusing the company of selling a line of sweaters with stripes down the sleeve that resemble adidas’ iconic 3-Stripe mark.According to the suit, the Marc Jacobs Peyton French Terry Sweatshirt features four parallel lines running down the sleeves that will likely be mistaken for the adidas mark."Marc Jacobs’ use of confusingly similar imitations of Adidas’ Three-Stripe Mark is likely to deceive, confuse, and mislead purchasers and prospective purchasers into believing that the apparel sold by Marc Jacobs is manufactured by, authorized by, or in some manner associated with adidas, which it is not,"the lawsuit said.Complex adds that adidas is seeking monetary or statutory damages and an injunction to halt the production and selling of the sweaters.Law 360 originally reported the suit.adidas' 3-Stripe design appears on the left; Marc Jacobs' 4-Stripe sweaters on the right via the court filing
